New format for DCTH’s to come
In the weeks past we have started to grow more and more users during DCTH. We have started to notice that there is a shift in chatting and keeping on topic with pertinent questions to the design community. So, there is going to be a little change in the game. Don’t worry the time slot is staying its just being expanded a little bit. The new idea is that there will be a specified time slot for chatting and there will be a specified time for serious questions.
The time slot is as follows:
Chat: 6pm – 7pm
This is going to be a free-for-all. You can talk about anything you want to design related during this time. The chat has been a huge success and it makes it hard to hear the questions through all of the noise.
Questions: 7pm-8:30pm
This is when the questions will start. During this time the questions will be tweeted by @DCTH. If you have a question that you want us to ask @reply the message to us or e-mail (chad@ceaweed.com) during the week or during the day. Now, the tricky part is making sure that everyone keeps to this format. If you want to continue to chat with other users just leave the hashtag off during this time.
Example:
@DCTH will tweet a question:
“#Q1: Why do you design?”
The response would go as follows:
“@DCTH #Q1 I love being able to make things #DCTH”
Why?
There is much conversation that is being missed and overlooked by others because of the constant chatting. I love where we have gone as a community and I am not frowning upon anything we have accomplished. Just setting some ground rules to make things more beneficial to all parties involved.
Is this permanent?
It could be. It just depends on how the new format works. If you have better ideas leave them in the comments section or you can send them to @chadengle or @DCTH.

I think we can do this. Plus I like the extra 30 minutes. Let’s give it a go next Thursday!
I like this idea – leaving room for both freeform chat and focused questions, but separately. Tweets were going by so fast last night, sometimes I really couldn’t keep track or respond in a timely manner.
yup sounds like a great idea – a lot of the time I was trying to find the question everyone was answering! lol

Well, it’s nice to have rules, but following them is another issue. Any forum styled group is bound to go off-topic or have things that aren’t apart of what’s going on. Also, if you sign into tweetchat it auto tags, so switching between the application and say, Tweetie may be difficult to do.
@Michael, I don’t think it will be that hard. You can have them both running at the same time or since the chat is first, run tweetchat and then your twitter client. Its easy to do just hoping people will drop the tag whenever they have sidebar conversation not related to the questions for the second half. Again the format might change if it doesn’t work.
